John Monahan

John Monahan is president and CEO of the Mount Pleasant Group. He has had a diverse career spanning the private, public, broader public and not-for-profit sectors. John practiced law with Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP in Toronto and held a series of progressively responsible roles with the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development and Trade in Toronto and New York before joining The Mosaic Institute as its inaugural Executive Director. Most recently, John was a two-term Warden of Hart House at the University of Toronto, where he was also a member of the Steering Committee of the University of Toronto Response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada, an appointed chair of the Academic Appeals Committee, and a Senior Fellow at Massey College.

A lifelong volunteer, John has been actively involved with community-based organisations engaged with a wide array of issues, including newcomer settlement, cancer support, performing arts, and human rights, among others.

John has been a member of the board since 2022.
